Achour Youness operates the MeetCounts mobile application ("App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Profile picture (optional)
1.2 Location Data
- GPS coordinates (to facilitate proximity-based meets)
- City/country information (via geocoding)
- We do NOT track your location continuously. Location is only used during active meet sessions.
1.3 Usage Data
- Meet history (who you met, when, where)
- Badge collection progress
- Chat messages with other users
- Device information (OS version, app version)
1.4 Bluetooth Data
- Nearby device detection (for BLE meets)
- No permanent Bluetooth identifiers stored
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data to:
- Create and manage your user account
- Enable proximity-based meet features (Bluetooth/QR codes)
- Award country badges based on your meet history
- Facilitate chat messaging with users you've met
- Display statistics and world map visualizations
- Improve app features and fix bugs
- Ensure compliance with our one-meet-per-user-per-day policy
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Third-Party Services
We use Firebase (Google Cloud) for:
- Authentication (Firebase Auth)
- Database storage (Firestore)
- Profile image storage (Firebase Storage)
- Backend processing (Cloud Functions)

3.2 Security Measures
- All data transmitted via HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Firebase security rules restrict data access
- Profile images stored in access-controlled buckets
- No passwords stored (handled by Firebase Auth)
3.3 Data Retention
- Profile data: Until you delete your account
- Meet history: Retained permanently (for badge system integrity)
- Chat messages: Retained for message history
- Location snapshots: Not stored long-term (used only during meet)
4. Data Sharing
4.1 What We Share
- Your name, nationality, and public badges are visible to users you meet
- Meet history is shared with users you've met (shows on their profile)
- Chat messages are visible only to the conversation participants
4.2 What We DON'T Share
- We do NOT sell your data to third parties
- We do NOT share your email address with other users
- We do NOT share your location with other users (only city-level)
- We do NOT use your data for advertising
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your data if required by law (e.g., court orders, law enforcement requests).
5. Your Rights (GDPR Compliance)
If you are an EU resident, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your data
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
- Deletion: Delete your account (Settings > Delete Account)
- Portability: Export your data (contact us)
- Withdraw Consent: Stop using location/Bluetooth features
- Lodge Complaint: Contact your local data protection authority

6. Children's Privacy
MeetCounts is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 16. If we discover that a user is under 16, we will delete their account immediately.

Your data is stored on Firebase servers (primarily in europe-west1 region). By using the app, you consent to data being processed in the EU and potentially other regions where Firebase operates.
