How to Delete Your MeetCounts Account
⚠️ Important: Deleting your account is permanent and irreversible. All your data including meet history, badges, achievements, and profile information will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Profile information: Name, email, date of birth, profile picture
- Meet history: All your recorded meets with other users
- Badges & achievements: Nationality, country visit, and achievement badges
- Chat messages: All your conversation history
- Location data: Stored meet locations
- Login credentials: Your account will no longer be accessible
Deletion Methods
Method 1: Delete in the App (Recommended)
Step 1: Open the MeetCounts app on your device
Step 2: Go to Settings (tap the gear icon at the top right)
Step 3: Scroll down to the Account section
Step 4: Tap "Delete Account"
Step 5: Read the warning message carefully
Step 6: Type DELETE to confirm
Step 7: Tap "Confirm Deletion"
Processing time: Your account will be deleted immediately, and all data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
Method 2: Request Deletion via Email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by email:
Step 2: Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
Step 3: Include the following information:
- The email address associated with your MeetCounts account
- Your full name (as registered in the app)
- Reason for deletion (optional)
Step 4: We will verify your identity and process your request within 7 business days
Step 5: You will receive a confirmation email once your account is deleted
What Happens After Deletion
- You will be immediately logged out of the app
- Your profile will no longer be visible to other users
- Other users' meet history with you will show "Deleted User" instead of your name
- Your badges earned by others will remain in their collections (anonymized)
- You cannot reverse the deletion or recover your data
- You can create a new account later, but it will start fresh with no previous data
Alternative: Temporarily Deactivate
If you're not ready to permanently delete your account, consider:
- Logging out: Simply log out of the app to take a break
- Disabling notifications: Turn off notifications in Settings
- Hiding your profile: (Feature coming soon)
Data Retention Policy
After account deletion:
- Immediate: Account access is revoked, profile is hidden
- Within 30 days: All personal data is permanently deleted from active systems
- Legal retention: We may retain minimal data (anonymized) if required by law for fraud prevention or legal compliance (e.g., financial records, abuse reports)
- Backups: Data in system backups will be overwritten during regular backup cycles (up to 90 days)
Your Rights
Under GDPR and other privacy regulations, you have the right to:
- Access your data: Request a copy of your personal information
- Data portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate personal information
- Erasure: Delete your account as described on this page
